The high-level segment of the 34th regular session of the Human Rights Council started in Geneva Headquarters earlier today. Addressing participants at the opening, UN Secretary-General António Guterres has urged the world to effectively address human rights concerns, in light of growing populism and extremism. The UN chief also reiterated the need for crisis prevention, in order to tackle root causes of conflict and human rights violations.
