Just over a year ago 11-year-old Tamba* was accused by his family of being a witch. Save the Children child protection teams discovered Tamba* living in a car park. He had experienced severe torture including having melted plastic burnt onto his head, his hand burnt in a fire and almost starved to death in order to force him to confess to being a witch.
Children accused of witchcraft in Africa suffer a lifetime abuse and stigmatization. The treatment they suffer is in breach of their fundamental human rights.
Save the Children have provided Tamba* and his family with medical, psychological and financial support. He now lives with his Aunty in Monrovia and one day hopes to be a businessman.
