Bali generates enough plastic everyday to fill a 14-storey building. 95% of plastic bags are thrown away after use - drowning the island’s beautiful beaches.
Two sisters, 16 year old, Isabel Wijsen and her sister Melati decided to take action, starting a campaign to get rid of single use plastic bags in Bali.
They spoke at schools and festivals and organised beach clean-ups. They even went on hunger strike to convince the governor of Bali to meet with them. Thanks to their work, this year Bali banned single-use plastics and the campaign now has 35 teams around the world.
