Following a meeting with the partners of the Central African Republic at the UN Headquarters Friday, the UN peacekeeping chief Jean-Pierre Lacroix said “we have a momentum” to rally around the implementation of the peace agreement.
Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Under Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, United Nations and the African Union (AU) Commissioner for Peace and Security Smail Chergui briefed reporters in New York on the way forward in implementing the Global Peace Agreement in the Central African Republic, that was signed by the CAR government and 14 armed groups in Bangui on 6 February, following the AU-led negotiations held in Sudanese capital Khartoum. The agreement addresses justice and reconciliation, governance, and transitional security arrangements.
