Cabo Pulmo in Mexico is home to one of the world’s most successful marine recovery programmes. After industrialized fishing fleets caused fish stocks to collapse in the 1980s, the waters of Cabo Pulmo were almost empty of life. But scientists began a reef recovery programme which, 19 years later, has led to a 460% increase in marine life.
