Delivered on March 18, 2006. Mary Evelyn Tucker is co-director of the Forum on Religion and Ecology. She is the author of Worldly Wonder: Religions Enter Their Ecological Phase and Moral and Spiritual Cultivation in Japanese Neo-Confucianism. She also edited two volumes on Confucian spirituality with Tu Weiming and the "Religions of the World and Ecology" series with John Grim. She received her PhD from Columbia University in East Asian religions. From 1993 to 1996 she was a National Endowment for the Humanities Chair at Bucknell University and until 2005 was a professor of religion at Bucknell. Since 2006 she has been teaching in a MA program on religion and ecology at Yale University between the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and Yale Divinity School.
