United Nations - Joseph Mobutu and Moise Tshombe were two Congolese leaders who played key roles in the history of their country, especially after it was freed from colonial rule by Belgium in 1960. In the ensuing years following independence, the country was violently affected by political upheaval, civil unrest and secessionist movements – both Mobotu and Tshombe came to widespread prominence during this time.
