Financing for development topped the agenda at the United Nations as leaders discussed strategies to mobilize resources to realize the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Leaders from Government, business and the financial sector addressed the High-Level Dialogue on Financing for Development, joining forces to help unlock the resources and partnerships needed and accelerate progress.
Addressing participants, Bill Gates, Co-Chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, said, “The SDGs provide a shared roadmap to realize the ambition of a world, for all people have the chance to live healthy productive lives.”
Leaders also attended a high-level meeting commemorating the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.
In addition, the Security Council met on peace and security in Africa, while heads of State and government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Belgium, Ethiopia and other countries addressed the ongoing general debate in the General Assembly.
