Script of the video message:
"Dear colleagues and friends,
This New Year also ushers a new United Nations.
Four new departments have come into existence.
A new development system is in place, bringing us fully into the era of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Our peace and security architecture has been fortified to improve prevention, mediation, peacekeeping and peacebuilding.
A new management paradigm is taking hold, with an emphasis on transparency, accountability and decision-making that is closer to the point of delivery.
Our aims are clear:
To focus more on people and less on process.
To become more nimble and effective.
And to build a workplace of equality and integrity.
2018 was a year of critical decisions. We had the full support of the Member States and all stakeholders to move forward.
2019 will be a year of action and implementation.
The work ahead will not be easy.
But these reforms are crucial for keeping pace with global change and delivering for people.
For more than 70 years, the United Nations has helped to keep the peace, uphold human rights and improve standards of living for millions.
Today, our work is needed more than ever.
We are here to serve.
Member States count on us. And I count on you.
I am optimistic about all we can do to together this year and beyond.
Time and again, staff have proven that no challenge is impossible when we work together to create a better world.
Thank you for moving into this new era with enthusiasm and dedication.
I wish you all wonderful year of achievement and change.
Thank you.".
