Hello Everyone,
My name is Ron Desi and today I'm going to talk about the most important meal of the day: breakfast. Skipping the first meal of the day is not recommended, as it can affect the proper functioning of the body and disrupt the metabolism. But did you know it can also affect your brain? Let's find out more.
The brain needs fuel in order to function, this fuel coming from the foods that we eat. Without breakfast, we have difficulties concentrating, not to mention many of us suffer from brain fog. The good news is that you can easily jump-start your brain, by opting for inspired breakfast choices.
Here are the most recommended breakfast choices for optimum cognitive functioning:
Yoghurt parfait - mix yoghurt with fresh berries, bananas and walnuts and you have a delicious breakfast to enjoy. You can also add whole grain cereals, for a higher fiber intake.
Eggs - eggs are rich in protein, which are essential for the proper functioning of the brain. You can eat them scrambled, combined with avocado and fresh tomatoes.
Veggie smoothie - a veggie smoothie, particularly one that contains dark leafy greens, can offer a wealth of nutrients, vitamins and minerals to the brain. You can add fresh fruits as well, but in a more reduced quantity, given their high-calorie content.
Whole grain cereals - whole grain cereals are best consumed with milk and fresh fruits. Avoid low-fat milk, as this is rich in sugar and eat only a moderate quantity of fruit (too many calories in one meal).
Salmon - this is an excellent topping for a piece of toast, delivering a good dose of healthy omega-3 fatty acids. These can improve the functioning of the brain synapses and, thus, your overall performance.
These are some of the foods you can consume in the morning, in order to jump start your brain and ensure the kind of concentration that you need for work-related activities. For more information on health and meal choices, follow ConsumerHealthDigest.com.
