The energy sector is the single biggest contributor of greenhouse gases, responsible for around three quarters of all emissions. Tackling emissions in the energy sector, and moving to renewable sources of energy, is therefore an urgent task. So, what are renewable energy sources, and how do we transition to them? David Howey is Professor of Engineering Science in the University's Department of Engineering Science and the Principal Investigator of the Battery Intelligence Lab, and Nick Eyre is Emeritus Professor of Energy and Climate Policy and founding co-Director of the University's ZERO Institute.
