When should you copy other traders’ trades? In the beginning, when you’re just starting out, it’s helpful to test a variety of trades—vertical spreads, iron condors, single options, day trading, swing trading—mix it all up. However, since you’re new, stick to a paper trading platform for this testing phase.

As you gain experience, you’ll likely want to settle on a specific strategy, then start modifying and adapting it to suit your style. This evolution process is key; after around ten trades, move to version 2 of your strategy, do another set of trades, and then proceed to version 3.

This step-by-step refining process lets you improve and personalize the strategy, making it your own over time.
