United Nations - Eight pregnant women and a number of children were among 781 people rescued on Tuesday ( 01 Sep) by a number of ships patrolling the Mediterranean, as part of the Frontex operation.
A record number of migrants and refugees have been making the perilous journey to reach Europe. Mostly migrants from Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal and Ivory Coast were rescued in this operation.
Norwegian ship Siem Pilot picked up the 781 migrants rescued by MSF and the Italian Navy.
