Complete transcript: Addicted to people that aren't good you?
So many people grow up with parents that are loving and engaged one day and shut down and disconnected other times. At a young age, your nervous system is going like this up and down as you learn that love is given and it's also taken away. This makes a lot of people develop limrance as an adult where you meet a person and you develop this fantasy about the life you'll have and how you're meant to be. You fall hard and fast and this person becomes allconsuming where you struggle to think about anything else. Even if they're not reciprocating, they're in another relationship or they're just not treating you well, you stay believing that if you give more or if you try harder, they'll finally see what they're missing and they'll become the person that you want them to be. Limrance is different than authentic love because there's no secure attachment. Instead, there's an intense longing where you idealize the person at the same time you have a deep fear that they're going to reject you. It's a biochemical addiction to abandonment, pain, and the roller coaster of emotions that you grew up.
