Join us in India for our latest travel video highlighting the best Punjabi food in Amritsar as we try eating Dal Makhani along with Palak Paneer at Kesar Da Dhaba (केसर डा ढाबा) (famous 100 year-old restaurant) for lunch. After having an incredible Punjabi breakfast tour in the morning, we had some calories to burn off in order to work up an appetite for lunch. Fortunately, Amritsar has some incredible markets and alleys to explore where you can see jewelry, silverware, ornaments and much more. One of the highlights was spotting the guest house I stayed at in Amritsar over 10 years ago when I first went backpacking in India.

After Deepak gave us a fascinating tour of some historic sections of Amritsar it was finally time for us to have lunch at Kesar Da Dhaba. This over 100 year old restaurant has been serving some of the best makhani dal and palak paneer for multiple generations and local Amritsari people consider it the best Punjabi food in the city.
We were lucky enough to get a full tour of process of making the Indian flatbread as well as the maa ki dal where the latter is cooked for over 12 hours in an enormous pot with manual stirring with a giant stick. I got to try stirring the makhani dal - a true highlight of the day.
Our Punjabi cuisine was absolutely incredible. Everything was so buttery and rich in flavour. In fact, the makhani dal I tried was hands down the best dal makhani I've ever had. After finishing our dishes at Kesar Da Dhaba we walked over to the famous Giana Sharma Ji tea stall walah where we washed down our meal with a cardamon Indian chai.
Overall if you're looking for an incredible food experience in Amritsar, Punjab be sure to make time to visit this famous 100 year old restaurant and chai wallah.
