Betty demonstrates how to make Carefree Cherry Cobbler. This is a delicious dessert that allows you to pour layers in a baking dish and bake. It makes its own crust, and the layers don’t even need to be stirred!
Carefree Cherry Cobbler
1 stick (1/2 cup butter)
1 cup sugar
1 cup self-rising flour
¾ cup milk
14.5-ounce can pitted, unsweetened, tart cherries (packed in water), undrained
Additional ½ cup sugar
whipped topping and mint spring (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees (F). Put butter in deep baking dish. Place in the oven until butter melts. Remove from oven and set aside. In a large bowl, beat 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour, and ¾ cup milk using medium speed of an electric mixer, until batter is smooth. Pour batter over butter, but do not stir. Pour 1 undrained can of pitted, unsweetened, tart cherries over top and sprinkle with ½ cup sugar. Again, do not stir. Bake at 350 degrees (F) for 30 minutes. Batter will rise to top. Serve warm or chilled, as desired. Garnish with whipped topping and mint sprig (optional). I hope you love this Carefree Cherry Cobbler! --Betty :)
