Betty demonstrates how to make Chocolate Covered Cherry Cookies to serve at Christmas parties and get-togethers. These are great holiday treats!

Ingredients:
½ cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup cocoa powder
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
maraschino cherries, drained (about 24—the number of cookie balls made)
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
½ cup sweetened condensed milk
¼ teaspoon additional salt
1 ½ teaspoons maraschino cherry juice
In a large bowl, cream together butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla. Add flour, cocoa powder, ¼ teaspoon salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Blend well. Dough will be stiff. Shape into 1-inch balls. Place balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Push one maraschino cherry halfway into each ball. When all cookies are shaped, prepare frosting and use immediately. For frosting, melt semisweet chocolate chips along with sweetened condensed milk, and then stir in ¼ teaspoon salt and maraschino cherry juice. Spread ½ teaspoon frosting over each cherry. Bake at 350 degrees (F) for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool. Transfer to nice serving plate. Enjoy! These cookies are wonderful for a holiday party. Love, --Betty ♥♥♥
