When a disaster strikes it’s important to act quickly. Response times can literally be the difference between life and death.

Satellites and other reconnaissance techniques are already used extensively after disasters, but the problem is analysing that increasing amount of information and interpreting it. Government’s often don’t have the resources or personnel to look at the data to find out what needs to be done.

The Orchid Project is hoping to solve this, by making all of this data – and more – easily available. By putting it all in one place and simple to use, they can ask anyone, anywhere, to spot any helpful details that might be vital for search teams. All you need is the internet and you can start saving lives.
