Koffi Antoine, a cocoa farmer in Cote d'Ivoire, noticed most of the illnesses that affected his village stemmed from poor handwashing. In response, he created a handwashing device made out of wood and bamboo for his community to use. The handwasher dispenses ash and the person washing their hands doesn't need to touch the device to even use it. The village-wide use of Antoine's invention has caused a big drop in hygiene-related illnesses.
