It's safe to be more successful than your parents. It's safe to have a different mindset or way of seeing the world. It's safe to move somewhere else than where your parents had planned for you to live. And it's safe to have your own dreams. Even if no one in your family can understand or believe in them, you can create your own life, your own happiness, and your own situations.

Even if your family members are committed to misunderstanding those things, embedded family dynamics teach each generation that there is only one way to live, one way to be, and one way to imagine life. When you start to take the brave steps to create a life on your own terms, you start to break the cycle. You break out of a generational box that you didn't put yourself in. And that's the greatest gift that you can give.
