Light crispy heart shaped strawberry waffles are a delicious treat for you and your pup. Using fresh ingredients we love these Mothers Day treats.
WOOF WOOF STRAWBERRY DOGGIE WAFFLES
Ingredients:
1 large egg
1 1/3 cup milk
1 3/4 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
4 tablespoons melted butter, cooled
1 cup fresh strawberries, trimmed & washed or other optional dog friendly fruit
Equipment:
Waffle Iron/Maker
Electric Blender
Large mixing bowl
Spatula/Wooden Spoon
Directions:
Preheat the waffle iron. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, butter & flour. Set batter aside and prepare the strawberries. Wash and cut off all green leaves & stems and blend in the blender. Next add batter mixture to electric blender and pulse until creamy strawberry batter is formed.
Do not over-mix.
Pour about 1/3 cup batter for every 4-inch square of the waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer's directions. Repeat with the remaining batter. My waffle maker has a red light when heating and a green light when ready. It also shows a green light when waffles are cooked. I did check them during the cooking process but the waffle iron cooked them perfectly.
Decoration:
You can save some sliced strawberries for decoration, and add a dollop of natural yogurt which dogs love.
These waffles are a perfect tandem food - make a batch for your pup and a batch for yourself. Add whipped cream, jam & strawberries to sweeten for the humans.
