Eight communities have been selected by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to receive the 2017 RWJF Culture of Health Prize, and are honored for their unwavering efforts to ensure all residents have the opportunity to live healthier lives. A subset of these communities are highlighted in this video for empowering the next generation of leaders: In San Pablo, CA, where over half the population is under 40, they’ve created a “Youth Commission” of teens to advocate for change. In Algoma, WI, youth are a driving force behind a shared commitment to help all residents thrive—from teaching CPR to conducting classes at a “Fab Lab.” In Chelsea, MA, youth are leading efforts to improve the environment and boost health by reclaiming the waterfront and reducing diesel fuel emissions.
