There are five common TOEFL writing mistakes that are important for you to avoid. You have to avoid these mistakes because it's so important that you see improvement in your writing. If you're watching a Youtube video about the TOEFL writing it's probably because you're not sure what you need to do. Here's what not to do:

Don't start writing immediately. The first two to three minutes of your time, especially for TOEFL writing task #2, you should take some time to map out your writing response. You want to make sure you know what your reasons are for your opinion and the two personal examples you will use to back up your reason. That takes a bit of planning first. So make sure you give yourself enough time to outline.

Another common TOEFL writing mistake is that students don't edit their writing. Remember, in the TOEFL writing section there is no spell check, so you want to make sure that when you practice, you have spell check turned off and you have enough time to go back and check your answers.

Now, I know you think it's cool to use fancy words, but it's not. Your TOEFL writing grade is scored based on not only your vocabulary but your clarity, structure, grammar and topic development. When you use a big word that you don't understand the TOEFL graders will know. Only use vocabulary you feel comfortable writing down.
Your opinion doesn't matter, at least when it comes to the integrated TOEFL writing question. In TOEFL writing task one, your job is to only report on information. If you give your personal opinion, the TOEFL graders will take points off.

And also make sure you don't do it alone. For both the speaking and writing section there are a lot of ways to be wrong. Make sure you have an experienced teacher look over your writing and give you feedback that you can use to improve in the future.
