Giens Peninsula Reviews
=====================
Small hotels but nice, good food, fleas market on Tuesday with nice products (cheese, fruits and more ). Small cafe where get a beer or a coffee. Lovely place.
-------------------------
Been there for a month so we had the time to explore it!
We saw the flamingo birds ( awsome), padeled around it: cristal clear waters, small beaches for two. One day kayak 45€ ( look for the guys from La petite flotile)
Traking around the peninsula it can take up to 2-3 hours.
Great place for kitesurfing, a lot of campings and good spots for "camping sauvage"
-----------------------
From a balcony overlooking the Presqu'ile de Giens. It is hectic in summer when the French take vacance (vacation), but in September it has slowed down and the weather is 70ish and mild.
The sun dazzles as it reflects off the water. If you are up high in the old town, looking at the sea view, it resembles a view from Maui….seriously. It's pleasant to walk on the pedestrian path by the road down to the ferry, or past the enormous old hospital on the peninsula, on the way to the old town. It's a laid back place at this time of year, and yet close to good restaurants or daytripping to Saint Tropez to the east, or Cassis to the west.. The inlets or fjords or as the French call them, the Calanques west of Marseille aren't that far. In the area there are tiny villages with plentiful photo ops and excellent small family restaurants. One of our favorites was Bormes les Mimosas. There are the typical French markets all around and in Hyeres. I would so go back again. Many excellent rental available. Ours was through a wonderfully friendly woman renting a home on Airbnb.
