Over the past five years, writer Ellen Jovin has serially studied 18 languages on her own, outside a classroom setting, while relying on widely available teach-yourself resources. She has supplemented these studies by using New York — one of the most multilingual cities in the world — as a language-learning lab. In this Hangout Ellen will debunk common myths that prevent people from starting a new language, while also discussing strategies attendees can use to teach themselves, on their own time and in ways that best suit their individual learning styles. Questions encouraged!
