How to make a no-cook donut trifle

Need to whip up something fancy in just 15 minutes? This no-cook donut trifle (RECIPE BELOW) is as simple to make as show-stoppers can get, so you donut have to stress about dessert this Christmas!

NO-COOK DONUT TRIFLE
Donut stress about Christmas dessert – this cheat’s treat serves 16 and is ready in 15 minutes. You’ll need two 12 packs of Coles Bakery Cinnamon Donuts.

1. Fast berry filling: Combine a just-thawed 500g pkt Coles Mixed Berries, 250g thinly sliced strawberries and ¼ cup (40g) icing sugar mixture in a bowl. Set aside for 10 mins or until berries release their juices.
2. Easy custard cream: Use an electric mixer to whisk 600ml thickened cream, 600g vanilla custard and 250g mascarpone in a bowl until soft peaks form.
3. Now layer up the magic: Arrange 10 donuts in the base of a 22cm serving bowl. Drizzle with 1½ tbs Amaretto or Frangelico liqueur (optional). Spoon over half the custard cream and top with half the berry filling. Use small pastry cutters to cut stars from sliced watermelon and hearts from more sliced strawberries. Arrange around the side of the bowl. Repeat with another 10 donuts, liqueur, if using, and the remaining custard cream and berry filling.
4. For a stellar finish: Thread more strawberry hearts and watermelon stars and remaining donuts onto skewers. Insert into the top of the trifle.
