How to perform the mountain climber. When I'm performing the mountain climber, I think of a sprawl and my eyes are up looking for an oncoming attacker. With my head up in the push up position, I'm engaging my chest, core, and hips, explosively driving my feet as close to my hands as possible and exploding back alternating sides. The key to this is not to A-frame or bring your ass up in the air like so many people want to do, keep your hips low to improve hip mobility, core, and cardio all at the same time. Now if it's too difficult for you, you can remove the explosiveness and slowly step your feet as close to your hands as possible, feel the hips open up, and you'll have the full range of motion. Implement these tips in your mountain climber for guaranteed gains.
