lei = a flower necklace

luau = Hawaiian feast/party

fiasco = a problem that's upsetting and disappointing

strenuous = physically difficult

the straw that broke the camel's back = the event or action that led to some kind of collapse, like having one problem too many

(It's) quite a hike = a long walk. Used to describe the distance by foot to a certain destination.

get things off one's chest = to voice your concerns, worries, or complaints so that you can find peace
