Mahalo Windows expert Sean Hewitt shows you how to use the calculator in Windows 7.

The Calculator Tool
---------------------------------------------------------------------

The Calculator Tool, while basic and easy to use, also has some in-depth features that go beyond simple mathematics.
1. To launch the Calculator Tool, click on the Start button in the bottom left of the Taskbar.
2. Type "cal" into the search engine then hit Enter.

3. You can use the mouse to click on the numbers of the calculator or use the number keys on your keyboard. If you are using the number keys, just make sure you have the Num lock on.

4. The calculator has four interfaces: Standard, Scientific, Programer and Statistics. You can switch between these different versions by clicking the View button on the calculator.

5. The History feature (also in the View menu) allows you to go back and view your previous calculations. Use the up and down arrows to scroll through your history.

6. The calculator also comes with Unit Conversion (in the View menu). Here is where you can convert various measurements, such as inch to centimeter.

7. Date Calculations (in View menu) allows you to quickly determine the time between any two dates by entering the dates and clicking Calculate.

8. Worksheets (in View menu) allows you to work on Mortgage, Vehicle lease and Fuel economy calculations. With Mortgage you can view your Down payment, Monthly payment, Purchase price and Term (years). With the Vehicle lease worksheet you can calculate Lease value, Lease period, Periodic payment and Residual value. The Fuel economy worksheet allows you to calculate Distance (miles), Fuel economy (miles per gallon) and Fuel used (gallons).
