Local Lens: A tour of Lisbon with surfer Nic von Rupp

Nic starts his tour at Praia da Adraga in Sintra, one of the best surfing beaches in the Lisbon area, and a haven for locals looking to sunbathe beneath the dramatic cliffs.

For lunch we head to the nearby Bar do Fundo at Praia Grande, a casual eatery with a relaxed vibe and quality dishes. Further along in Praia Grande is the picturesque clifftop town of Azenhas do Mar, where we visit the natural swimming pool and the poolside bar—the perfect sunset spot.

Our tour then heads into picturesque Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, where we head to Amor Records, a renowned Brazilian-founded record shop in the Santa Cruz neighborhood. We sample canned sardines at Conserveira de Lisboa, take the tram at Elevador da Bica and take in the beautiful landscape from viewpoints at Miradouro de Santa Luzia and Jardim do Torel.
