"Looking for examples of true leadership in a crisis? From Iceland to Taiwan and from Germany to New Zealand, countries led by women seem to be particularly successful in fighting the coronavirus", noted Anne W. Rimoin, an epidemiologist at U.C.L.A, attributing this correlation partly as result of leadership and management styles. The leaders who have so far handled the virus best, were those who humbly consulted public health experts and acted quickly. Many of these leaders were women. In contrast, many male authoritarians who reacted poorly to the crisis response, were suspicious of experts and spoke with passion and conviction, on subjects they knew little about. Join Dr Jennifer Cassidy from Oxford's Department of International Development to explore her research into the leaders gifting us an attractive alternative way of wielding power, and what this might teach us all.
