Salt Lake City is located in the north part of Utah. Is the largest and the capital city of the state. Situated nearby the Great Salt Lake, the city was originally named "Great Salt Lake City;" but the word 'Great' has been dropped out later on.
In 1847, Brigham Young and his fellow members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints arrived in Utah's Great Salt Lake Valley and called it home. The Mormons, as they were commonly known, had moved west to escape religious discrimination.
Today, Salt Lake City attracts numerous tourists from around the world eager to discover the history and beauty of the city.
