A documentary on the life of Sigurd F. Olson and the meaning of wilderness. This is a work-in-progress, seeking funding. Olson (1899-1982) was a wilderness writer, canoe guide and conservationist and the title comes from his first book of essays, published in 1956. Olson believed that contact with wilderness was vital to the health of the human spirit. Among his many accomplishments, he was largely responsible for the preservation of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in northern Minnesota and played a major role in the creation of the Wilderness Act of 1964.
