This theater takes VR to a whole new level. Space 360 is a spherical projection theater. It creates a small universe around viewers. This eliminates the need for VR headsets. The theater is located next to Lucerium National Science Museum in Gwangju, South Korea. Here's what you can see.
The 12-meter wide sphere can hold 45 people at a time. Visitors walk down a glass observation bridge. There are 12 projectors in the sphere that create the images. Each session is 15 minutes long. The content covers important milestones in history. Like the Big Bang. The origins of life. Human civilization. Followed by changes due to global warming.
The exhibit opened to the public in September 2017. Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power donated the sphere theater to Space 360. Space 360's goal is to give visitors an immersive VR experience using the newest technology possible. It also sets an example for digital 360 theaters of the future. Anyone over the age of 8 can visit Space 360. It costs 3,000 Korean Won or 2.82 American dollars to enter. The theater is a permanent installation and can be visited year-round.
