United Nations - To eradicate poverty and hunger by 2030, there is an urgent need to channel global efforts to where the problems "run deepest in the world," according to Kanayo F. Nwanze, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Mr. Nwanze was speaking in an interview with the UN News Centre ahead of the International Day of Rural Women, on 15 October, and the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, marked on 17 October. According to the IFAD President, the world needs to invest in the rural poor, as well as transform small-holder agriculture beyond mere means of sustenance.
