@Alexawhatsfordinner was very excited about these watermelons , so she decided to tanghulu them! Tanghulu is a candied fruit snack originating from China and it’s delightful - recipe below
INGREDIENTS
1 watermelon, sliced into 1-inch-thick slabs
2 cups sugar
1 cup water
Special Equipment
Instant-read thermometer
Heat-safe skewers
PREPARATION
Use small cookie cutters to punch out shapes from the watermelon flesh, or use a knife to cut into small squares or your desired shapes.
Prepare an ice bath in a medium bowl.
In a medium nonstick pan, combine the sugar and water. Melt together over [level] heat and continue cooking until the temperature reaches 300°F (150°C).
Secure a watermelon shape onto a heat-safe skewer. Dip the skewer into the hot sugar mixture to coat the watermelon evenly, then immediately dunk in the ice bath; the sugar should harden and turn glossy on the outside of the fruit. Repeat with the remaining watermelon. Serve immediately.
Enjoy!
