The changing climate has different effects depending on where you are and the kind of environment you already live in. Globally, we’re all going to need to adapt to increasing weather events, and become more resilient in the face of such challenges.
But what do we actually mean by climate adaptation and climate resilience, and just how important are they? Dr Antje Weisheimer leads both the National Centre for Atmospheric Science’s Oxford site and the Predictability of Weather and Climate Group in the Department of Physics. Professor Felix Leach is Associate Professor of Engineering Science in the Department of Engineering Science, and Philip Stier is Professor of Atmospheric Physics in the Department of Physics and Director of Intelligent Earth – Oxford's UKRI AI Centre for Doctoral Training in AI for the Environment.
