The active assisted hamstring stretch is a great way to stretch out your hamstrings before or after an injury. Watch more Ask Doctor Jo videos featuring full routines for common injuries and syndromes at http://www.askdoctorjo.com

To perform the active assisted hamstring stretch:

1. Start with both knees bent, and bring the leg up of the side you want to stretch. Grab behind your knee at the thigh with your knee still bent.
2. With your hip at about 90 degrees, straighten your leg as much as you can towards the ceiling, and hold the stretch.
