Betty demonstrates how to make Countrystyle Coleslaw. This is a tart and sweet version of coleslaw that is made without mayonnaise.
Ingredients:
1 large head cabbage, shredded
1 large onion, chopped
1 large green bell pepper, chopped
¾ cup sugar
1 cup white vinegar
¾ cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon celery seed
In a large bowl, layer shredded cabbage, chopped onion, and chopped green bell pepper. Sprinkle with sugar to cover, but do not stir. Set aside. In a small saucepan combine white vinegar, vegetable oil, salt, dry mustard. And celery seed. Mix well and bring to a full boil over low to medium heat. Pour over layered vegetables. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours. Toss well, right before serving. Enjoy! Love, Betty ♥♥♥
