Betty demonstrates how to make Dog Biscuits for the family dog, Remy. These are peanut butter flavored; Remy loves them!
Dog Biscuits for Remy
1 cup whole wheat flour
½ cup old-fashioned oats
¼ cup nonfat milk powder
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup crunchy peanut butter
1 ounce light corn syrup or honey
1 egg
¼ cup water
In a large bowl, stir together flour, oats, milk powder, and salt. Add peanut butter, corn syrup or honey, egg, and water. Beat on low speed of an electric mixer until a dough forms. Remove dough from bowl and flatten to approximately 3 inches wide. Place dough on lightly floured piece of parchment paper. Sprinkle a small amount of flour over top. Place a second piece of parchment paper over top of dough. Use a rolling pin to roll dough into a rectangle that is about 3 inches by 15 inches. Cut into 10 “dog bones” that are each 3 inches by 1 ½ inches. Place uncooked dog biscuits on a pan lined with parchment paper or a silicone pad. Bake at 300 degrees (F) for about 50 minutes. Transfer to cooling rack and cool completely before giving to your dog. I hope your dog loves these dog biscuits! --Betty :)
