Betty demonstrates how to make a Valentine Heart Cake. This cake is baked in a square pan and also a round pan, then cut and assembled to look like a Valentine heart.
Valentine Heart Cake
1 box white cake mix
3-ounce package strawberry Jello mix (You may use small sugar-free strawberry Jello.)
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
4 egg whites
½ cup water
10-ounce package frozen strawberries, thawed
¼ cup vegetable oil
½ cup butter, softened
1-pound box confectioner’s sugar (This is the same as powdered sugar or icing sugar.)
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
In a large bowl, stir together cake mix, Jello mix, and flour. Add egg whites and water and mix on medium speed of electric mixer. Stir in 5 ounces of the strawberries and vegetable oil. Mix well, using mixer. Spoon batter into an 8-inch by 8-inch baking pan that has been buttered and floured and an 8-inch round pan that has been buttered and floured. Bake at 350 degrees (F) until a toothpick inserted into the deepest part of each pan comes out clean. Cool. Remove from pans. Shape round layer and square layer into a heart shape by halving the round layer and pressing placing cut edges against adjoining sides of a square layer. Make icing by using a mixer to blend butter, confectioner’s sugar, and vanilla, and then stirring in 5 ounces thawed strawberries. Ice cake completely and decorate as desired. Happy Valentine’s Day! Love you all! --Betty 
