This dessert is inspired by all the countless times I spent 25 cents of my lunch money on one of those ridiculously addicting caramel apple suckers in junior high... This is my attempt at making it into a real dessert and putting my own spin on it. This recipe is insanely simple, so please give a try and share, share, share!

1/2 cup sugar
3-4 tbsp water
pinch of salt
Fritters:
1/3 cup milk
1egg
2-3 tbsp dark rum (optional)
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp sugar
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 cups shredded apples
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 quart vegetable oil for frying
