Making reference to his projects from the past ten years, Bogotá-based architect Daniel Bonilla will describe a set of principles he has conceived through the elaboration of simple observations about the city. Neither rigid nor absolute, these principles have served as parameters in the development of his work, in which the idea of dissolving the boundary between the public and private has acquired a special relevance.

After completing studies in urban design at Oxford Brookes University, the College of Technology, Dublin, and the Milan Polytechnic, Daniel Bonilla worked for the Public Space Bureau of Bogotá, and the offices of Llewelyn-Davies, London, and Ospinas y Cia, Bogotá. Begun in 1997, Daniel Bonilla Architects has designed a variety of public and private architectural and industrial design projects across Colombia, from schools and transit stations to hotels and social housing. The firm has entered and won several open international competitions, and its works have been featured in a number of architectural reviews and publications.
