Maria Cleaveland of Equator Estate Coffees&Teas describes the perils of grinding coffee the wrong way for the brewing method you plan to use: clogged brewers, sludgy coffee, and overextraction. Make sure to use a fine grind for espresso, a medium grind for drip, and a course grind for French press.

TRANSCRIPT
It's super important to use the right grind size for your method of brewing. With your French press grind, you want it to be kind of chunky. You want to give it proper surface area for all that fantastic flavor to come out. An espresso grind is super fine because you're actually extracting just two ounces in twenty to thirty seconds and you need a lot of surface area to get that great flavor out. So a drip grind, you want to have somewhere in the middle. Fine enough to get a lot of flavor out, but not so course that the water just rushes on through.
