My name is Kid Glyde. I'm the leader of the Dynamic Rockers, pretty famous B-Boy. I travel around the world, I organize events. I've been dancing for 15 years. So I think I'm pretty credible to teach you. Be positive, be strong, let's do it.How to organize a B-Boy battle? Wow. The first thing I would say to look for, especially out here in New York, because it's very expensive, is a venue. If you don't have a venue, you can't do anything, unless you're doing a block party or outside gym, if you don't have venue, its not going to happen. In New York it's pretty hard to find a venue. But once you find a venue, you know, the rest pretty much falls into place, especially if you are part of the culture. If you're not it will be pretty hard because within the community you need respect. And people respect you, they'll respect what you do and they'll support you. And I've seen people, even when they have a lot of money on the line, and they put a big prize, I've seen events fail. You know it's about respect and definitely promotion. If you don't let anybody know about your event nobodies going to go. You have to make sure everybody knows, especially the right people, you know. And it's not easy, if you're part of the community, you'll figure out ways, you'll find out who to work with and basically it is who you know. This community you could talk to everybody, anybody dancing it, but you have to know them, you have to get to know them, be out there, you can't just stay home and just expect everybody to know who you are. You have to be out there, you have to show them that you're a dancer, you know, they'll respect you more. If you're a dancer, they'll respect you, they'll be like, ""Oh, he's doing something for us because he's one of us."" You know? And it takes a lot of work, its not easy. It takes money, it takes venue. You've got to get a DJ, you've got to get judges, f you're going to have a competition. I mean, if all you're going to have is a jam then all you're going to need is a DJ and some lights maybe and a sound system, and you'll be good. But if you're doing a competition, you need to have rules, you need to have the money before hand, don't expect the money from the door, because if you don't make the money at the door, how're you going to pay the winners, you know. I've seen that happen a lot where people don't get paid because not enough people came to the event, you know. So you have to be a person of your word and make it happen, and that's what I have to say about doing events. You can do it, you just have to do it the right way. Do your research. Make it happen.
