About the Device Manager
---------------------------------------------------------------------
When you have any sort of hardware issue, check the Device Manager. To access it, click on the
Start Menu. Right-click on Computer then Properties then Device Manager. You will see your attached devices. Any specific devices sticking out from their assigned categories will need your attention.
If you have a disabled wireless card, you would see your wireless card branched-out from the list. If you would like to enable it, right-click on that item and choose to Enable, Uninstall, Update Driver Software, Scan for hardware changes or view Properties. These same functions are also available to you via the top toolbar.
In addition, you can check what equipment you are using and what their settings are. For instance, you can check your video card by clicking the Display Adaptor. You can also check on your Monitor or Processor accordingly.
If you had an incorrect driver, refer to the Device Manager. This driver should be sticking out. You would then right-click on it and select Update
Driver.
There are different ways to view your Device Manager. The most common is View by type, while other options incude View Devices by connection and by Resource type.
Type means that the devices listed are categorized by the type of device that they are. Monitors will all be listed under Monitors.
Mice under Mice. If an Ethernet adapter had an issue, it would be displayed under Adapters.
