Hide Files

Hidden files in WIndows 7 are files that are not shown. System files, for example, are hidden so they are not accidentally altered or modified by the user.To make a file hidden, select the file and right click it. Select Properties, check the Hidden box and click OK. The file will still be in the folder, but will not be shown.Make folders hidden by doing the same thing. However, a window will pop up asking you if you want all subfolders and files hidden as well. Click the option you want and then click OK.

Show Hidden Files

To see hidden files, open the Start menu and type in the search window Show hidden. Then press enter. From the folder options window, select Show hidden files, folders and drives, and click OK. The hidden files will now be shown in a lighter color, to let you know they are hidden.
