Nikos Chatzitsakos: Berklee Two Track I Purpose

Bassist Nikos Chatzitsakos performs "Windmills of Your Mind" by Michel Legrand and "Yesterdays" by Jerome Kern. Nikos also shares the importance making positive change in the world for the next generation.

Born in Athens, Greece, bassist, arranger, and composer Nikos Chatzitsakos is an award-winning musician as a member of Ralph Peterson’s GenNext Big Band and leader of the Nikos Chatzitsakos Tiny Big Band and Quartet. Influenced by Black American music of the 1940s to 1960s, he attempts to find new ways to honor the era, perform its music, and connect it to other idioms.

Two Track is a music video series designed for Berklee’s YouTube and social media channels that features artists in an intimate setting with only one microphone and continuous camera takes. Each recording session will revolve around a single theme (i.e., connection, love, dreams) that can be expressed by the artist either through their track selection or through a short storytelling segment that will be recorded as part of the performance. The videos in this series will premiere at specific dates and times, but if you miss the premiere, each video will be public on the channel in continuity.
