Brazilian artists Kely and Ian perform "Ponteio" by Edu Lobo and "Carinhoso" by Pixinguinha to celebrate the theme Journey.

Bandolimist Ian Coury began his musical journey at the age of 7. At 13, he switched from the 8-string to the 10-string bandolim. However, he continued to pursue his studies in the Brazilian genre known as choro, a style originating in the 19th century that combines European and African influences. He already has appeared in magazines, participated in international conferences and festivals, and shared the stage with renowned Latin American jazz musicians.

Kely Pinheiro is a Brazilian multi-instrumentalist and arranger based in Boston. She moved to the U.S. after receiving a full-tuition scholarship to Berklee College of Music. She is a classically trained cellist but grew up in a music-loving family that encouraged her to explore a variety of musical styles. Together, Kely and Ian formed the Pinheiro Coury Duo, hoping to share some fun, groovy Brazilian styles that are rarely performed in a cello-bandolim configuration.

Two Track is a music video series designed for Berklee’s YouTube and social media channels that features artists in an intimate setting with only one microphone and continuous camera takes. Each recording session will revolve around a single theme (i.e., connection, love, dreams) that can be expressed by the artist either through their track selection or through a short storytelling segment that will be recorded as part of the performance. The videos in this series will premiere at specific dates and times, but if you miss the premiere, each video will be public on the channel in continuity.
