Most of us love eating meat, we love cheese and drink loads of milk. This short video is not telling, shouting or preaching to you about not eating meat, there are plenty of them videos online for you look at. What we hope to achieve with this is the amazing and shocking facts behind the meat industry and the impact that it having on the planet. We have become so far removed from our food in its natural state and just turn up (unless it is a home delivery) to supermarkets and buy what ever we like at anytime of the year whenever we like. It is shocking that many kids do not know milk comes from a cow and we buy meat packed in plastic and do not anymore understand the impact. There are really shocking facts in this video and it is time for us to start to think about this. Water consumption, rain forests, land use and human population will all add up to future generations for sure eating a more vegetable based diet. Go ahead and eat that bacon, but please just think about the info in this short video. There are great films out there about this subject should you want to get a little deeper. Cowspiracy for example is really good. Becoming vegetarian is one of the very best things you can do for the earth, Being vegan is probably the best thing you can do for the earth and your health. Livestock and their by-products account for 51% of all worldwide greenhouse gas emissions. Animal agriculture is responsible for around 90% of Amazon destruction. 70 billion farmed animals are reared annually worldwide and more than 6 million animals are killed for food every hour. Over 1,000 activists have been killed in land disputes in Brazil during the past 20 years. One acre of rain forest is being cut down per second . It takes 660 gallons of water to produce one beef-burger. Animal agriculture uses 55 percent of the water in the U.S. Worldwide, the meat and dairy industries use 30 percent of our fresh water every day.
Animal agriculture is the source of 51 percent of all greenhouse gasses. Cows produce about 150 billion gallons of methane per day. Forty-five percent of the Earth’s land mass is used for animal agriculture. Animal agriculture is directly responsible for 91 percent of Amazon rain-forest destruction. 136 million acres of the rain forest have been cleared for cattle grazing and growing feed crops. Animal agriculture is the number one cause of species extinction, ocean “dead zones,” water pollution, and deforestation. People who say being Vegetarian or Vegan is not healthy is just 100% Prime Bull. It would make sense if you just had a think about all of this. The facts are not going away any time soon.
